Chimney Inspection and Evaluations
We perform Chimney Inspections and Evaluations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania to help maintain chimney efficiency and to verify that the flues are suitable for the appliance(s) that are venting through them, as well as for real estate transactions.
Leading Chimney Inspection Company in NJ and PA
SBCP performs chimney inspections based on National Fire Protection Guidelines (NFPA). NFPA211 states that all venting systems should be serviced annually, including inspections and/or cleanings as needed. SBCP performs different types of chimney inspections in NJ and PA, spanning from Level I to Level III.
- Level I Evaluation
This is a visual evaluation of your chimney, which provides a basic view of the inside of the flue. Basic hand tools and flashlight aid in this evaluation. In some cases, this inspection is suitable to determine if the chimney is in good condition or if it needs maintenance and/or repair.
- Level II Evaluation
Includes everything in a Level I evaluation, plus the sweep of the flue, and the use of a closed circuit TV system. The CCTV system gives us better visibility inside the flue, from a distance of only a few inches away at any given place within the system. This helps determine the condition of the flue and whether it meets National Fire Protections guidelines or if repairs are required to make it perform properly. SBCP has the capability to archive any and all findings from the CCTV and forward them to any parties if necessary.
- Level III Evaluation
Includes everything in Level I and Level II, plus cutting access into chimney structures and/or walls to gain more detailed visibility of the internal areas of the chimney. This inspection can help determine if there is proper clearance between the chimney structure and surrounding combustible or building materials. This may also help determine if exhaust gases are escaping from the flue prior to exiting the top of the chimney. This evaluation usually requires some kind of reconstruction.
